Submit your application form online or use this undergraduate application form.
Pay the $15 application fee.
Ask your high school to send your official high school transcript to the ETSU Office of Admissions. If you are currently enrolled in high school, this transcript should include your senior-year courses.
If you are under 21 at the time you apply as a freshman, submit your ACT or SAT scores. Scores may be submitted on your high school transcript or by the testing company.

Note: If you are a home-schooled student or an international applicant, please review the information in these sections before submitting your application.

Submit your application form online or use this undergraduate application form.  
Pay the $15 application fee. (not required for former ETSU students).  

Ask your high school to send your official high school transcript to the ETSU Office of Admissions.

 
Ask each college you have attended to send your official transcript to the ETSU Office of Admissions.  
sun image Readmission Students

All former ETSU students who have not been enrolled for one major term (fall or spring) must apply for readmission.  
Readmission students are not required to pay the application fee.  
If you attended another college since your last enrollment at ETSU, ask each college you have attended to send your official transcript to the ETSU Office of Admissions.  
  Note: Attending another institution during a period of academic dismissal may adversely affect your readmission to ETSU.

Submit your application form online or use this undergraduate application form.  
Pay the $15 application fee.  

Send your official high school transcript to the ETSU Office of Admissions. If you are a Tennessee resident, your transcript must:

  • Be an official copy sent directly to us from an affiliated organization as defined by state law (Tennessee Code Annotated 49-50-801).
  • OR

  • Use the Home School Transcript Form and be accompanied by certification of registration with the local school system that you would otherwise have attended.
 
If you are under 21 at the time you apply as a freshman, submit your ACT or SAT scores. Scores may be submitted on your high school transcript or by the testing company.  
Submit the Home School Certification Form. This form supplements your application for admission and ACT or SAT scores.  
sun imageSecond Bachelor's Degree Students
If you have already earned a bachelor's degree from ETSU or another college or university, and you want to earn a second bachelor's degree at ETSU, follow these steps:  
Submit your application form online or use this application for a second undergraduate degree.  
Pay the $15 application fee (not required for former ETSU students).  
Ask each college you have attended to send your official transcript to the ETSU Office of Admissions.

If you are pursuing a degree at another college or university and you want to take one or more classes at ETSU (for instance, during summer school), you should apply as a visiting student:

Submit your application form online or use this undergraduate application form.

Pay the $15 application fee (not required for former ETSU students).
Ask your home college or university to send a Letter of Good Standing to the Office of Admissions.
 
sun image Non-Degree Seeking Students
If you’d like to take an undergraduate course for professional reasons or personal interest, you should indicate your application status as a special student.
Submit your application form online or use this application for undergraduate admission
Pay the $15 application fee (not required for former ETSU students).

Note: If you previously attended ETSU, please follow the instructions for readmission.

We may ask you to provide a transcript of previous college work if the course you desire has prerequisites.

Submit this undergraduate application form, along with the International Student Application. Applications may be faxed (423-439-4630) only if accompanied by the credit card payment form for the $25.00 application fee.  
Pay the $25 application fee.
Send original or certified grade (mark) sheets for secondary school and college or university or diplomas in those countries where mark sheets are not available. English translations are required if mark sheets or diplomas are in a language other than English.  
Include a statement in your own handwriting, 300-500 words in length.  
Submit an official copy of your scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). East Tennessee State University requires a total score of 500 (173 computer-based) or better for undergraduate study. If you are under age 21 and have no previous college credit—either ACT or SAT scores are also required.  
Certification from a parent, guardian, or other responsible person or organization that youwill have ample support while at ETSU is required. Any financial documentation provided must be original documents.  

 

An application is not considered complete until all required documents are on file.

  Note: Initial copies of educational credentials may be faxed. However, the admission decision will be made only using official documents. Official documents are original documents or certified copies of original documents and must be received by mail or courier service. Educational credentials in a language other than English should be provided in the original language along with a certified English translation. Unofficial translations are not acceptable.  
sun image Dual Enrollment High School Students


Dual enrollment students may take classes at ETSU while still enrolled in high school. To learn more about applying, call the ETSU Office of Admissions at 1-800-462-3878 or 423-439-4213.

 

Application Fee Payment Options

  1. Use the credit card section on the Application Form.

  2. Phone your credit card information (Visa or MasterCard only) to the Office of Admissions at 423-439-4213 or 1-800-462-3878.

  3. Mail a check, payable to “ETSU,” to the Office of Admissions. Include your full name, address, and social security number with your check. If you applied online, enclose a note saying so.
