Why is Google Groups sending me email? I never signed up for the service.
Google Groups allows group owners to directly add users as a convenient way of transferring members from other services. We don't intend this to be used to build lists for unsolicited email; we don't like spam, and using the “Add Members” feature in this way violates both the spirit of Google Groups and our official Terms of Use. To see our Terms of Use, click the link below. If you think a group owner is abusing this feature, please let us know about it by clicking the "contact us" link then clicking "If you'd like to report abuse, please click here." On the report page, include the group's address and select "The group owner added me without asking."
If you want to unsubscribe from the group and you're getting digest emails, click the link at the bottom of each message to unsubscribe from the group and discontinue these emails. If you're receiving individual posts, you can unsubscribe from the group via email. To unsubscribe, send an email to [Groupname]-unsubscribe@googlegroups.com. For example, if you wanted to leave google-friends, you'd send an email to google-friends-unsubscribe@googlegroups.com. If you've created a Google account, you can prevent other owners from adding you to their groups. Sign in at http://groups-beta.google.com, click the "Manage my subscriptions" link in the My Groups section of the homepage. Under Invitation preferences, check the box next to "Do not allow managers to directly add me to their groups" and click the "Save invitation preferences" button.
