Lake Tahoe Facts!
 Lake Tahoe is the highest alpine lake in the U.S. and the second largest alpine lake in the world! Commonly referred to as "Tahoe", or just "The Lake" by locals, beautiful blue Lake Tahoe is located between the great states of California and Nevada in the United States of America.
The Lake Tahoe region includes the cities and towns of Tahoe City, Incline Village, Truckee, Kings Beach, Squaw (Olympic) Valley, Alpine Meadows, South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian Bay, Crystal Bay, Brockway, Homewood, Tahoma, Meeks Bay, Meyers, Stateline, Northstar, and Zephyr Cove.
Lake Tahoe has a surface elevation of 6,229 ft, is 22 miles long, 12 miles wide and has a shoreline 71 miles in length. With a surface area of 193 sq. mi., a maximum depth of over 1,600 feet (wow!) and an average depth of 989 feet, the total capacity of Lake Tahoe is 122,160,280 acre-ft (39 trillion gallons) of water!! Surface lake temperatures range from 68 ° F in the summer, to 41 ° F during the winter. The only outlet is the Truckee River at Tahoe City.

Lake Tahoe is know world wide for its world class alpine and nordic skiing and snowboarding with snowfall at alpine ski elevations averaging between 300 - 500 inches per year!
Summer golf is very popular in Lake Tahoe where they say, at 6,000' elevation, the ball travels 25 yards farther on a drive! That's good news for most of us and great news for the many celebrity's, such as big John Elway and the legendary Michael Jordan, who hit the links in July each year at the American Century Golf Championship - Celebrity Week at Edgewood Tahoe in the South Shore.
