Since the heaviest snow usually falls during this month, native tribes of the north and east most often called February's full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult. For more full Moon Names click here.
Landscaping Ideas for February
Join a garden club: You can jump-start your landscaping project by joining a local garden club. Avid gardeners are usually happy to swap plant cuttings or thinned-out perennials, and to share cost-saving techniques. Also consider starting or joining your areas Wild Ones Natural Landscapers Ltd. chapter. Wild Ones (www.for-wild.org) is a national plant rescue club that preserves native plants by transplanting them from building and road construction sites. A few scheduled spring plant rescues can provide gardeners with hundreds of dollars in free plants.
Tell Us Your FUNNY Story!
Nothing makes time go by faster than when youre laughing! Were looking for funny but true stories that involve children. A few years ago, we asked readers to submit some funny things that were said by their children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or students. We received some great stories such as Overheard at an airport: Two little girls were standing outside of the restrooms. One of the girls said I have to use the bathroom. Her friend says, Theres the Womens Room. I cant use that, says the girl, Im not a woman yet.
Now were looking for more, especially if the funny story relates to the weather, outdoor adventure, or gardening. We will share some of these stories here at our Web site (for all to enjoy.) The top five stories will get published in the next edition of the Farmers Almanac. If we decide to publish your story in the Farmers Almanac, we will notify you and offer you $5 coupon to use at our online store.
