Jiri Kout leads the Czech Philharmonic with cellist Michaela Fukacova. Penderecki's Sinfonietta for strings, Richard Strauss' symphonic poem Don Quixote and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 1 are on the program. March 3-4 at 7:30, Dvorak Hall, Rudolfinum

Central European percussion ensemble Dama Dama joins esrai player Elena Kubickova, tabla player Tomas Reindl and guitarist Lubomir Brabec for a concert in the Prague Music Evenings in the Spanish Synagogue series. March 3 at 7:30, Spanelska synagoga

The Pilsen Philharmonic led by conductor Jiri Malat features solists Yvetta Tannenbergerova, Richard Novak, Eliska Weissova and Martin Srejma on works by Smetana, Mozart and Verdi. This gala concert is the last event in the Opera 2005 festival. March 5 at 7, Estates Theater

A concert to honor T.G. Masaryk, president during the First Republic, features pieces by Czech composers Suk, Martinu, Klicka and Janacek, plus something by Jan Masaryk. March 6 at 7:30, Martinu Hall, Lichtenstejnsky palac

Passion works are featured in the Baroque soiree called Stabat Mater, performed by Collegium Marianum with soprano Hana Blazikova and contralto Marketa Cukrova. March 6 at 6, Barokni knihovni sal

A festival in support of minorities, Open Arms starts March 4 at the National Theater and has several concerts there and at Divadlo Kolowrat. One highlight is a concert featuring traditional Japanese, saxophone and electric instruments March 7 at 7 in Kolowrat.

Old meets new with the Barock Jazz Quintet and Soloists Band. The bill includes Swinging Music by Serocki; Ebony Concerto by Stravinsky; Prelude, Fugue and Riffs by Leonard Bernstein; Jazz Concert for Clarinet and Big Band by Fried; and more. March 8 at 7:30, Dvorak Hall, Rudolfinum

A benefit for tsunami relief has rock band Fatty Lumpkin in their next-to-last concert before they go on a tour of South Korea. RePlay headlines the show. Lucerna Music Bar at 7:30

Jean-Paul Bourelly heads up Vibe Music, a funk, jazz and world-music trio with T.M. Stevenson and John Blackwell. The band ends its current European tour with this show. March 2 at 8, Lucerna Music Bar

The former songwriter, singer and guitarist of Squeeze, Glenn Tilbrook plays solo show. Since Squeeze split in 1999, Tilbrook has played lots of solo acoustic shows and has some new post-Squeeze material. See Stage, page B4. March 5 at 9, Svandovo divadlo

Few people merit the title of jazz legend as much as sax player Wayne Shorter, who worked with Miles Davis and was in the band Weather Report. See Stage, page B2. March 6 at 8, Kongresove centrum Praha

The fastest band in the world, Romania's Fanfare Ciocarlia plays Romany music and comes as part of the Respect Plus series. March 6 at 7, Palac Akropolis

Bedecked in traditional Moravian costumes, Hradistan delivers inspired renditions of old Czech and Slovak folk music. March 7 at 8, Svandovo divadlo

Hip-hop band Cocotte Minute was the runner up in last year's JBM contest. They are promoting the CD Czeko. March 9 at 8:30, Rock Cafe at 8:30
