Starting in 1996, Alexa Internet has been donating their crawl data to the Internet Archive. Flowing in every day, these data are added to the Wayback Machine after an embargo period.
FIRE Foreign Minister Cyril Svoboda has written to his Chilean counterpart expressing regret over a massive fire started accidentally by a Czech tourist that damaged the Torres del Paine National Park. Svoboda said a charity could hold a fundraising drive in this country to help repair damage caused by the blaze.
ANNIVERSARY President Vaclav Klaus will take part in celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II that will take place in Moscow May 9. The celebration has provoked controversy in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland, where politicians have said the prewar 1939 pact between Berlin and Moscow led to the forced inclusion of their countries in the former Soviet Union.
ROMA The European Court of Human Rights is hearing a complaint by 18 Roma, or Gypsies, from Ostrava, north Moravia, who claim they were victims of discrimination because they were automatically assigned to schools for children with disabilities.
INGUSHETIA The nongovernmental organization People in Need has rejected allegations that its representatives in Ingushetia are breaking Russian law by not demanding personal documents from people who Russian security forces claim are connected with banned military groups. The allegations were made by local authorities and cited by the Russian ITAR-TASS news agency.
