Mini guide to Shannon
Shannon is a modern, specially developed airport linking Europe and North America with Western Ireland’s centres such as Limerick, Galway and Killarney.
Conveniently located approximately 15mi north of Limerick city, the airport is serviced by bus and taxi (24/7 – tel: +353 61 471538). Bus Eireann is the national bus network, with services to all regions of Ireland. By contrast, the train network is limited.
Both short-term and long-term parking is offered 24/7 within the airport, with over 2,000 spaces available, and special rates are available for frequent users. There are also complete airport provisions for disabled persons.
A meet and greet arrivals hall, exchange bureaux, ATMs, postal services, a nursery (for kids), a tourist information and hotel booking desk, left luggage and a tax refund service, as well as convenience stores are all represented at the airport.
The Gold Circle Lounge is available to Aer Lingus Gold Circle Club members, while the Rineanna Suite is currently available to Continental Airlines Business First passengers, Delta Airlines Business Elite passengers, Royal Jordanian and British Airways First Class passengers and selected Air Rianta passengers.
The Estuary Café offers high quality meals from 07:00 to 18:00. The ‘Pub Upstairs’ has hot food and satellite television from 10:00 to 24:00. Sheridan Bar is your last resort, and is open 24/7 in the Departures lounge. Incidentally Joe Sheridan, former resident chef, invented the world famous Irish coffee in 1943.
In addition to convenience stores, duty-free shopping is available if you are travelling directly or indirectly to a destination outside of the European Community, provided that your travel is completed within a single day.
