Instant messaging and email can be both forms of an internal mail system. Both can be customised to perform their task in a small group within the comminuty and or throughout a huge multinational company.
Companies are constantly looking to streamline operations and cut overheads. By far the most popular mailing software is Microsoft Outlook. Whether they use outlook or another mail program they will all have the functionality to be adaptable to the individuals needs.
Examples of how an internal messaging system may be used to save on time and resources.
• In a community an instant message could be sent out to ‘all users’ online to remind them that the competition you are running is due to end 5pm that day.
• The group HR is selected as the address for a mail to send a mail to everyone in Human Resourses that a new member of staff has been appointed.
• An email of instant messages sent to 200 people in building unit 5 to alert all the people that they are upgrading the network and at the end of day to back everything up and turn off computers.
• Mail systems customised so employees can only emial other employees.
