Entrust Entelligence: Messaging Server
The Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server is a server-based e-mail security gateway that makes it easier to communicate securely with external partners and customers.
A central component of the Entrust Secure Messaging Solution, Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server transparently manages security functions and enforces corporate secure e-mail policies, making it easier for users to securely communicate with their colleagues outside of the organization. By enabling “end-to-end” or “boundary-only” encryption, the Messaging Server helps to protect the privacy of sensitive communications and enables an audit trail for e-mail communications.
Offering both standards-based S/MIME and Web-based options for message delivery, the Messaging Server can be used to reduce the time and cost of conducting a wide range of tasks, including the distribution of HR information, contract negotiations, personalized customer statements and more.
Flexible Deployment
Organizations can choose to deploy Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server in a variety of e-mail environments, including Microsoft® Outlook®/Microsoft® Exchange® and Lotus Notes®. External recipients can use S/MIME enabled e-mail clients like those contained in the Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express products, or common Web-based e-mail services (i.e. Yahoo!, HotMail) by leveraging Entrust Entelligence WebMail Center.

The Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server enables:
Secure communications outside of the organization
- the system automatically collects and centrally stores external users’ digital identities (IDs) to enable e-mail security that is transparent to end users
- users need only know the e-mail address of intended recipients
- e-mail messages are secured in accordance with the S/MIME standard to provide interoperability with these external users
Alternative Web-based secure messaging
- organizations whose external correspondents may not have digital certificates or S/MIME capabilities can benefit from secure external messaging through the Entrust Entelligence WebMail Center, an optional add-on to the Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server
- recipients need only a Web browser to read and reply to secure e-mails
A simplified user experience
- many security functions are performed by the server, making end-to-end e-mail security transparent to the user
- the user does not need to choose a secure delivery method and does not need to manage certificates for their external correspondents
Increased desktop performance
- encryption for multiple users or distribution lists is performed at the server instead of the client, reducing the time required to look up encryption keys or certificates and to perform the actual encryption
Compliance
- the solution helps organizations comply with various regulations mandating the protection of private client/patient/consumer records, including HIPAA, Gramm-Leach Bliley, Sarbanes-Oxley and California SB 1386
- interoperability with content scanners enables organizations to protect against viruses and comply with their own corporate governance policies specific to messaging, including anti-vulgarity, harassment etc.
- secure messages can be additionally encrypted for inline content scanners, such as the Entrust Entelligence Compliance Server, enabling scanners to access the contents of the message and determine if a virus is present, or if the content complies with e-mail policy
Support for boundary encryption
- can detect and encrypt sensitive e-mails flagged for encryption by the Entrust Entelligence Compliance Server before they are routed outside of the organization's boundary
- secured replies can also be decrypted for internal delivery if the original sender does not have encryption/decryption capabilities
