Why should I rent a
mobile phone, won’t my current mobile work?
This is a very good question however the answer is NO.
The U.S. network that your phone utilizes is based on different
frequencies than what is predominately used throughout the rest
of the world. The GSM(Global System for Mobiles) is the frequency
used in foreign countries.
What is the cost of renting
a phone from TravelWireless?
Our weekly rental rate is $79/wk, $11 per additional day. This includes
FedEx Priority Delivery (10:30a.m), the phone, 2 batteries, chargers,
adapters, user guide, and carrying case.
How do I return the phone and how much
will it cost?
A prepaid air-bill will be included with your phone, $12 will be
added to your bill if you use this air-bill. You may return using
your own courier account (i.e. FedEx, UPS, USPS).
Is there a minimum usage requirement?
Absolutely not! Our rental price is for the rental and does not
have any hidden charges!
No Hidden Charges, What do you mean?
When choosing a rental company you need to determine 2 things, actual
cost of rental and what are the airtime rates. When renting from
TravelWireless, the only thing not included in your $79 rental is
the Theft and Loss Protection. You only pay for the minutes you
actually use! Compare our Airtime Rates and you will see how low
our prices actually are.
Airtime? What do you mean by Airtime?
Airtime refers to the number of minutes you use to make or receive
phone calls. These minutes are billed in one minute increments and
are rounded to the next full minute. For pricing and comparative
shopping click here.
Is Voice Mail extra?
Voice mail is included. When you receive your phone you can set
up your mailbox and you will be ready to go. Accessing your messages
is billed as a local call. (Note: voice mail is not available with
satellite phones, GSM only)
Theft and Loss Protection, what is that?
Theft and Loss Protection is an optional coverage you may choose
to protect yourself is the phone should be lost, stolen or broken
beyond repair. This coverage is $1/day of the length of rental.
Being that this coverage is optional we would like to inform you
in advance that should the phone be lost stolen or broken beyond
repair you will be held responsible for the replacement value of
the phone, typically $399 (depending upon model).

I do not see my destination listed, or
my destination is remote and not covered by GSM, what do I do now?

phones are perfect for remote areas of the world where typical cellular
service is not available. Satellite phones rent for $139/wk, $20
per additional day and the Theft and Loss Protection is $6/day.
With a satellite phone your airtime is $2.50 per minute when placing
calls and free when someone is calling you. The satellite phone
will be an international call for those attempting to reach you.
How will the weather affect usage of the
satellite phone?
Satellite phones are suitable for most weather conditions, although
severe weather (i.e. heavy rain or snow) may diminish the signal
strength from the satellite network.
