The North Carolina Latino Project recently completed a survey of substance abuse treatment providers that indicated that 67 percent of treatment providers felt that current services for Latinos were inadequate and needed improvement. While 75 percent of respondents said that had previously assessed and/or treated Spanish-speaking clients, only 32 percent said they had at least one counselor that spoke Spanish.
The project also created the first centralized database available to the public that lists substance abuse treatment providers in North Carolina that offer Hispanic/Latino substance abuse services.
