NATS Air Traffic Incident Co-ordination and Communication Cell
(ATICCC)

On average over 6000 aircraft fly through UK airspace every day,
therefore any failure in the national air traffic service has
a profound impact on the whole aviation industry. Significant
efforts have been made to ensure that the services provided by
National Air Traffic Service (NATS) are resilient to failure,
however, it is essential to plan for unexpected events.
The NATS Air Traffic Incident Co-ordination and Communication Cell
(ATICCC)
has been established to provide a management focus to co-ordinate
the post incident business recovery process following the loss
of any substantive parts of the aviation industry support infrastructure,
particularly Air Traffic Control. A team of experienced operational
managers comprising representatives from NATS, Airports, Airlines
and other appropriate organisations will man the ATICCC to co-ordinate
and manage the recovery process.
Effective communications between air traffic control, airlines,
airports and other is essential in the business recovery process.
Nominated focal point representatives from Air Traffic Control,
Airlines, Airports, Ministry of Defence, Civil Aviation Authority
& Government are invited to register with the ATICCC website.
When the ATICCC is activated, the website will provide a key mechanism
for gathering and sharing information across the aviation industry
about the current status of major incidents and estimates for
recovery.
