THAI’s Maintenance Centre is ranked as one of the finest in Asia, providing a full range of maintenance services including certified Heavy Maintenance (D-checks) or complete aircraft overhaul. Our reputation has led to such demand for our service, a second Aircraft Maintenance Facility was opened at U-Tapao in May 1999. The new centre can simultaneously conduct service and repair work on three aircraft, and can also carry out the repair of aircraft components and passenger cabin accessories. The new facility was awarded the JAR-145 Certificate by the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA), an European body which sets and supervises quality control standards in aircraft maintenance to ensure the highest possible standards of service and safety for air passengers. The certificate is only conferred after a maintenance facility has been thoroughly inspected.

Aircraft Maintenance Facilities, Bangkok and U-Tapao

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited's Technical Department currently conducts aircraft maintenance and provides services for THAI as well as customer airlines in four hangars located at Don Muang Airport, Bangkok.

To cope with demand, a second Maintenance Facility was opened at U-Tapao Airport in Rayong province in 1997. It comprises an aircraft parking apron covering 43,000 square meters, a 24,000-square meter twin hanger to handle wide-bodied aircraft, an 18,000 square meter workshop, 1,409 square meters devoted to management and training offices, with the remainder for storage, canteen, and water treatment facilities. Both aircraft maintenance facility will be able to conduct heavy maintenance at both C-Check and D-Check on two wide-bodied aircraft and one small aircraft type simultaneously.

At both facilities, THAI can repair everything from aircraft components to passenger cabin metal sheet and fibreglas accessories on premises.
