Balboa Park symbolizes San Diego
San Diego’s vision has been embodied for over 135 years by Balboa Park. Here we find our city’s cultural center, with museums, theatres, dance groups, garden clubs, recreational leagues, civic organizations, and the World Famous San
Diego Zoo. With over 1200 acres of culture, recreation and natural beauty, Balboa Park is one of the largest urban parks in the country. On average, over 36,000 people use Balboa Park every day.

The Park’s future is uncertain
Our Park is thriving today only through a delicate combination of support from the Balboa Park Endowment, City of San Diego, and various organizations and individuals. Every year both needs and budgets change. Through constant usage from residents and visitors, the Park’s infrastructure is in need of repair. Time has begun to take a serious toll on our epicenter of culture and recreation.
