Stazione Centrale (Central Railway Station) Enormous, abundantly faced in heavy stone, Milan's main railway station was built in a megalithic early 20th century style which is ironically described as `Assyro-Milanese'. Most international trains pull in at the monumental Stazione Centrale, which is the main railway junction in Lombardy. It lies at a short distance from the city centre (around 4 km) and is very well served by two underground lines (lines 2 and 3) and a considerable number of trams and buses.
