Did you know ecommerce Web sites can boost your sales?

Many businesses today have found great success with the traditional methods of doing business, but those same businesses can see even more success with the doors opened by ecommerce. As more and more people begin trying to squeeze 10 hours of errands into 10 minutes of their day, they realizing what the world of ecommerce can do for them. Think of the potential that could be reached if you open your virtual doors to a vastly untouched pool of customers through ecommerce.

The differences of businesses in ecommerce terms

The basic difference between businesses in the traditional sense and ecommerce businesses is where the business transaction physically takes place. In a traditional sense, if you want to buy a new car, you will get in your old car and drive to several different car dealerships, get out in the cold (because it's always cold and wet when you're doing this), look at the sticker price, press your nose to the window trying to see what's inside.

All the while deciding if you're interested enough to stick around for a salesman to walk out to you, then turn around and walk back in the building to get the keys to the car so you can actually see inside, then if you decide to actually test drive the car, you'll wait for the salesman to walk back inside to get a dealer license plate and bring that back out, and if you're lucky, the salesman will actually plan ahead and take your drivers licenses with him the first time, if not, you'll have to wait for that too.

Pretty frustrating right? And, if after you actually drive the car, when you get back you'll have to deal with the pressure tactics often associated with car salesmen.

Now, let's look at that same scenario from an ecommerce standpoint. After you decide you want to buy a new car, you can sit yourself down in front of your computer, visit a few different ecommerce Web sites, look at a variety of cars that interest you, and begin the next steps.

If you're looking for a lime green station wagon, and after looking at the ecommerce sites, you have figured out that there's only one dealership in your state that has a lime green station wagon, well think of the time you've already saved yourself. From there, through ecommerce sites, you can begin the negotiation process, make arrangements for test drives and compare prices of dealerships (assuming you find more than one lime green station wagon).

In fact, many ecommerce sites can enable the consumer to apply for financing and actually purchase a vehicle if they choose.

In the end, either scenario will provide you with a new vehicle in the end, but the actual process and end product are the same. It's just the route you take to get there that differs.

Latest trends in the ecommerce world

Ecommerce statistics from the 2004 holiday shopping season are already in, and show a 28 percent increase in ecommerce sales over that of 2003. This number alone shows the promise that lies ahead for the ecommerce world and those that partake in the benefits it offers.
