Hits creeping back

After a major change on www.sunglasses-shop.co.uk the hits from Google dropped right off. Over the last 7 days the unique hits have been as follows:

Saturday, February 12, 2005 599 5.63%

Sunday, February 13, 2005 629 5.91%

Monday, February 14, 2005 630 5.92%

Tuesday, February 15, 2005 642 6.04%

Wednesday, February 16, 2005 679 6.38%

Thursday, February 17, 2005 724 6.81%

Friday, February 18, 2005 836 7.86%

Total: 3495

A steady increase from 599 to 836. Before the redevelopment the site was getting well over 1000 unique hits per day, so this looks like things are back on track. The new change turned the old ASP technology in to HTML pages. This is still preferred by many search engines.

Google is back up there, .co.uk and then .com. More hits means more sales so is good news all round.

Basically if you are working a major overhaul of your site prepare yourself to loose traffic. It may take several weeks before things are back on track, but if your changes are for the best, then you should see improvements.

Hits creeping back

Linking your website from a site with a higher page rank can be a great help for your own website's page ranking. Page ranking is a complex process and is bead read straight from the mouths of Google engineers. If you are looking to get hits and increase your ranking then insure your linking text is along the lines of your chosen keyword. For example, when you add your site to our free directory the keywords that link to your site will increase your placing for that particular keyword.
