Carter Hostelley, CEO
As CEO, Carter manages day-to-day operations and provides overall leadership in delivering Topica’s Online Marketing and Sales Solution. Carter brings broad financial, operational, and strategic experience to his role as CEO. During his tenure at Topica, Carter has also been the CFO and played a critical role in developing and implementing the financial and operational structure of the company. Prior to joining Topica, Carter was a founding executive at SmartAge, an online marketer to small and medium sized businesses. At SmartAge, Carter was initially the Vice President of Finance, where he was directly responsible for raising over $50 million in venture capital, and then Vice President of International where he started up its European efforts and established a Japanese joint venture with Softbank. Carter has also held management and leadership positions at Ziff-Davis, Wells Fargo Bank, and Salomon Smith Barney. Carter holds a BBA from University of Hawaii and an MBA from Cornell University.

Johnathan Robinson, SVP of Sales & Marketing
As SVP of Sales and Marketing, Johnathan is responsible for driving Topica’s revenue growth and overseeing all aspects of the company’s marketing efforts. Johnathan brings over 20 years of senior management experience in sales and marketing to Topica. Before joining Topica, Johnathan was Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Everyone.net, responsible for developing and managing advertising, direct marketing, distribution and other partnership programs. Prior to that position, Johnathan was Executive Vice President of Media for SmartAge, where he oversaw strategic planning, product development, sales management, media marketing, and ad operations. Johnathan has previously held senior management positions at Petry Interactive, US West, and The Career Television Network. Johnathan holds a BS in Radio, TV, and Film from Northwestern University.

Bill McCaulley, VP of Technology and Customer Operations
As the head of Technology, Bill is directly responsible for the technology infrastructure and operations of Topica. Bill has over 20 years of IT and Management Consulting experience, and brings an expertise in email and related infrastructures to the company. Prior to Topica, Bill has headed email implementations at Home Shopping Network and Bike.com. Bill has also led the roll out of Windows network architecture for Motorola and many major Hospitals throughout the country. Previous to those positions, Bill has headed up management consulting engagements related to technology for Price Waterhouse. Bill has a BS in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University and maintains numerous technical certifications.

 


Maurizio Caio, TLcom Capital Partners
Maurizio is a founder and Managing Partner of TLcom Capital Partners, where he focuses on network infrastructure and corporate applications of communication technology since the firm foundation in 1999. He currently serves on the boards of PacketFront, Netscalibur in Italy, and Topica in the US. Prior to TLcom, he was a founding partner of Bain & Company in Italy and was - until April 1999 - a Director of Bain & Company, leading the firm’s European telecom/technology practice, and serving clients from the firm’s European and San Francisco offices. Previously he was with McKinsey and Company in Europe, focusing on technology and growth strategy. He has spent 15 years advising CEO’s and senior management of European and Silicon Valley telecommunications and technology companies on strategy, operations, commercial development and partnerships. Maurizio has a Summa cum Laude Laurea degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan and New York University, and an MBA from Stanford University. He also served as a Professor and Research Fellow in Strategic Planning and Control at Bocconi University in Milan and as an Instructor of Information Technology at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is based in London.

Fergal Mullen, Highland Capital Partners
Fergal is a Principal of Highland Capital Partners focused on Software and Services companies. Previously, Fergal served as a founding Partner of RSA Ventures, the corporate venture fund of RSA Security, Inc., where he led the European and Boston deal coverage. Prior to joining RSA Ventures, Fergal was a Senior Vice President of Cambridge Technology Partners in Europe and a member of the Executive Committee of the firm worldwide. As head of the sales and marketing functions for Europe, he was responsible for developing and executing a marketing and sales strategy across 14 offices in 11 countries. During his eleven-year tenure at Cambridge, Fergal played a leading role in growing the business from start-up to profitability. He was directly responsible for several country-based start-ups and the challenging turn-around of an acquired firm. Fergal honed his deal skills while heading the corporate business development function at Cambridge and subsequently during his tenure at RSA Ventures. Fergal has a BS, Electrical Engineering and BA, Business Economics from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard University.
