Welcome to the Java User Groups (JUGs) pages of Sun Microsystems, Inc. Whether you're already part of a JUG or looking to join one, you've come to the right place! We are currently updating the entire JUG program, so check back regularly to see what has changed.
What is a JUG?
A Java User Group is a group of people who share a common interest in Java technology and meet on a regular basis to share technical ideas and information. The actual structure of a JUG can vary greatly - from a small number of friends and coworkers meeting informally in the evening, to a large group of companies based in the same geographic area. Regardless of the size and focus of a particular JUG, the sense of community spirit remains the same.
Getting Started
If you are new to the JUG program, please search for a local group in our listings of existing User Groups. Once you find a JUG that you are interested in, it might be helpful to check out their web site (if available) or contact the JUG owner to find out more about the focus and format of that particular group. With so many Java User Groups available, you should easily find one that suits your style and interests.
Existing Members
As always, you can post and edit the listing for your local JUG on our bulletin board. Updating your listing often is the best way to attract new members by showing a high level of activity. If you have any questions, please refer to the JUG FAQ for guidance.
Sun ONE Software User Groups
Sun also sponsors user groups associated with the Sun ONE software product line, which is built on Java technology. Currently there are user groups for the Sun ONE Application and Portal Servers, as well as for the Sun ONE Studio tools (for both the Java and Solaris platforms). Find out more.
