Please note: Only the part on doc translation has been updated lately, thanks to the work of Frank Schütte and due to the massive changes in this area which made the former doc section totally obsolete. An update of the GUI part was postponed. So there are some substantial new developments missing, esp. the new plural handling in GUI files. For information on the latter you still have to refer to the respective threads in the translators mailing list, mainly plural handling and plural handling again.

This HOWTO is meant for translation team coordinators, new translators, and everybody else interested in the subject. It gives a first overview of how new languages are introduced to KDE, and how the translations of the graphic user interface, the on-line help, and other KDE-related things are actually done. It also takes a closer look at resources available to assist translators in the process. Other important areas (e.g. how to compile KDE sources or how to find one's way around CVS) are referenced throughout.
