What Does Your Web Site Design Need Most?

Forget what anyone "needs," least of all your Web site design. This isn't about your Web site design. This is about what visitors WANT.

Your visitors might need blood and guts. They might need white shiny teeth. They might need somebody to love, and you can even count on that! None of these needs matter right now.

You might marry someone because they need your loving, but come tonight, its all about what's wanted right now. They may well want to put their feet up and pass out no matter how much you think they *need* your hugging!

Needs have absolutely nothing to do with Web site design.

Web Site Design is About Desires?

Now that we have NEED completely out of the way, lets toss out another false competitor among human wishes: desire. Toss it out.

To desire something implies volition. Many men desire red sports cars. Right now I desire about another 300 words to complete this article. If you try pandering to people's desire, you aren't going to find a worthwhile target. Desires are too general and wishful.

Someone may desire magical beans, but they know they're only going to get baked beans. What they really want are BEANS.

Desire produces adjectives, not nouns. Desires are pie in the sky, dressing on the turkey, icing on the cake. Most of us work a life time and don't even get a thimble-full of our desires met.

Your Web Site Design Isn't Really Yours

Sure kiddo, we all know how excited you are about creating this really cool site that will sell every hotcake in the shop, but you need to liberate yourself from this desire.

If this Web site design is going to be the best, then you can't afford to think of it as yours. Its not about your needs or desires. Its about your visitors wants. They don't come because they want to see YOUR information, they come because they want to see THEIR information - the stuff that's going to make the difference in their lives, not yours; not your products, but what will soon be theirs.

So, *this* Web site design is going to be about your visitor's wants.

How Do I Know What They Want?

You have to be psychic to know what other people want. But don't worry! You can do it. It really works. Trust me.

I can read your thoughts right now, you think I'm a looney. But, if your Web site design is structured in the right way, you can channel your visitor's thoughts and know what is going on inside their heads.

There are countless books written about how to monitor their clicking patterns and surfing tendencies. Don't forget site cookies that can monitor almost everything and anything about them! But none of this technology gets into their brains and produces a workable model of their wants! No, for that you will need to learn how to configure the proper symbols and embed the proper incantations into your Web site design!

Psychic Attunement For Web Site Design Instructions:

Ask your visitors what they want.

Simply ask them kindly for their feedback, even reward them for their feedback.

This is the only way you're going to get in their brains. Psychic powers won't get into their brains. Not until the betawave for Pyschicsoft version 4.0 is released.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of Web site designers out there who use every other method besides communicating directly with their visitors. That's because the tech industry thinks of people as "users," and the Web advertising industry thinks of them as "impressions."

When you know what your customers want, because your design is all about communicating across a well designed, two-way interface, then you're going to be well on your way to becoming a millionaire.

And what if you find out they don't want your product? In two words: DUMP IT.

Find out what they really want and sell them that!
