Danang Overview
Danang City is located in Central Vietnam, 764 km south of
Hanoi Capital and 964 km north of Ho Chi Minh City, it is
surrounded by Thua Thien Hue along the northern border and Quang
Nam on the southern border. The typical climate of Danang is
tropical monsoon with annual average temperature of 240C
(Jun.max.350C, Dec.min.160C) and has 82% humidity. The main ethnic
groups living in this area are the Kinh, Xo Dang, Co Tu, Co, and
Gie Trieng.
Ngu Hanh Son Marble Mountains as well as the Linh Ung Pagoda,
the Museum Cham Sculpture, and Non Nuoc Beach are interesting
attractions to visit.
Hoi An
Overview
The ancient town of Hoi An, 30 km south of Danang, lies on the
banks of the Thu Bon River. Occupied by early western traders, Hoi
An was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the
16th century. Hoi An has a distinct Chinese atmosphere with low,
tile-roofed houses and narrow streets; the original structure of
some of these streets still remains almost intact. All the houses
were made of rare wood, decorated with lacquered boards and panels
engraved with Chinese characters. Pillars were also carved with
ornamental designs.
Tourists can visit the relics of the Sa Huynh and Cham
cultures. They can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the
romantic Hoi An River, Cua Dai Beach, and Cham Island.
Over the last few years, Hoi An has become a very popular
tourist destination in Vietnam.
Thua Thien
- Hue Overview
Located on the northern bank of Perfume River, Thua Thien Hue
is 127 km long and 60 km wide on average, with mountains and
forests accounting for up to 70% of the natural land.
Geographically, Thua Thien Hue borders Quang Tri Province to the
North, Da Nang City to the South, with Laos P.D.R., separated by
the Truong Son range, to the West, and over 120 km of seacoast to
the East. The province lies in the tropical monsoon zone
influenced by the convergent climate of the subtropical North and
the tropical South. There are two distinct seasons: the rainy
season, with storms and hurricanes, lasts from September to
November; and the dry season, with little rain, lasts from May to
August.
Thua Thien Hue is famous for attractions with beautiful beaches
like Thuan An, Lang Co and Canh Duong. Thua Thien Hue also owns
the largest lagoon of Southeast Asia, stretching over 70 km and
covering an area of 22,000 hectares. The environmental highlights
of the area are the O Lau bird-sanctuary and Bach Ma National Park
where over 2,000 plant species, one third of the bird species and
one third of the wildlife present in Asia are being conserved.
Hue is also an important center of Buddhism. In Hue and its
surrounding still exist tens of pagodas constructed more 300 years
ago, and a hundred of temples and pagodas built in the early
century. Besides, Hue is a place where the royal music is
originated, and a place with traditional famous dishes and
sophisticated handicraft. As a unique city of Vietnam still
remains its form of City under Middle Age and the constructions of
monarchic, Hue has become a big and an invaluable museum.
Therefore, vestiges in Hue ancient capital have been classified by
the government as a very precious property and on December 1993
Hue has been recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site by
UNESCO.
