Own an online store? List your products on Froogle!
If you have an online store, you should consider advertising your products on Froogle.com.
Froogle is a new project of Google focused entirely on products for sale on the Web. If you search for information, news or images on Google, use Froogle to search for a product you need. Just enter the name of a product, and the next moment you are comparing prices, looks and features of the products offered by different Internet stores. Froogle’s search result is very nice. It shows a product’s picture (if available), price, a short description, and the link which leads you to the site where you can buy the product.
Google/Froogle crawls billions of web pages every month. If you have an Internet store, most likely your web site has been crawled or will be crawled by Google/Froogle automatically. But since Froogle is still a beta version, don’t expect them to list your products the way you want them to be listed. Let’s look at an example. VitalCell.net has 184 products for sale online. Froogle has found this web site, but didn’t list the products properly. Please look at the listing "Alternative Medicine Products". It is not a product but a category. If you are wondering whether or not Froogle picked your web site and how it listed your products, just make a search using your business name. For example, if your business is Synthx.com, make a search using a word "synthx". If your business is Howeseeds.com - make a search using a word "howeseeds". In most cases, you will see that your listing makes no sense.
If your products are not listed on Froogle yet or listed incorrectly, don’t get upset. You can manage your listing. The inclusion to Froogle.com is free but requires a little effort, time and computer knowledge from you. To get your products listed there, you will need to submit a special file to Froogle at least once a month. This file is called a data feed. It consists of the information about your products (name of a product, link to the page where visitors can buy it, description, link to the picture of the product, category, and price).
To compare an automatic inclusion and a listing by a feed data, please click here. The first listing (Taco Plate Set) is submitted by us manually through the feed file. The second listing (Order TacoPlates) is about the same product, but the listing is created automatically by Google’s spider. Please read the description of the first and second listings. See the difference?
Here are steps you should take to get your products listed:
- Fill out the form at http://services.google.com/froogle/merchant_email
- If you are qualified, Froogle sends you a link to submit a merchant agreement (http://services.google.com/froogle/merchant_agreement)
- After you submit the agreement, you will receive detailed instructions how to create a feed file.
- After your feed file is created, you have to upload it to Froogle’s server and send email to Froogle with a request to check your file. 5. If everything is correct, you will receive a confirmation email, and in a few business days your products will appear in the Froogle search engine. If there are mistakes, a Froogle representative will contact you and explain what you need to change.
If you would like to include your products on Froogle but have problems with creating a feed file, don’t hesitate to contact us. For those customers who paid for search engine submission, this is now included. Please see the Froogle listings submitted by us for SkinScripts.net.
