While skiing or snowboarding have you taken part in any of the other winter
sports that are available such as tobogganing or ice skating? And when you signed
up to have a go did you know if your travel insurance covered these activities?
Chances are it didn’t and travel insurance specialist InsureandGo is
warning winter sports holidaymakers to double check that they have adequate
cover – otherwise they may be in for a nasty shock should they get injured.
Perry Wilson, from InsureandGo, says: “Taking part in activities such
as tobogganing can be a great way to break up the week but there’s still
a risk that an injury will occur. Medical costs alone for a broken leg or arm
in Europe can be around £10,000 and £30,000 in the US; and that’s
before the costs for the air ambulance rescue, your repatriation and other incidentals
such as equipment hire and lift passes are included. “
InsureandGo covers off piste skiing and snowboarding in areas designated safe
by the resort management, tobogganing, ice skating, snow mobiling, mono skiing,
glacier walking and guided cross country skiing automatically. Prices for a
week in Europe start from as little as £16 and all its annual policies
include winter sports for free.
Plus if you’re looking for something more adventurous it offers a dedicated
extreme winter sports package that for a small additional premium it will cover
heli-skiing, freestyle skiing and ski acrobatics, ski stunting, ski bob racing,
ski racing/training - non professional, skeletons, bobsleigh and even ice hockey.
