Asset Acceptance representatives continue to call my home, on a regular basis even though I have informed them I will not pay until an itemized list of charges and fees regarding my debt has been sent to me.
They insist that they do not have to provide such information.
Is this true? |

Hi Michael,
Welcome to the forums
FDCPA provides you the right to question and check the validity of your loan. We have covered almost everything at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/validation.html .
Thanks

Hi Michael,
Welcome to the debt consolidation care forum.
According to the FDCPA, it is a must for the debt collectors to provide you with a debt validation certificate. It is a compulsion before starting to collect any amount of debts.
They need to prove that they own the debt now, provide you with your complete payment history starting from your original creditor and also give you the document of the original signed loan agreement between you and the original creditor. If they violate the law you can sue the collection agency for $1,000 based on their action.
Hope you participate more frequently in our forum and share your experiences with other members.
Regards,
Jason |

Michael,
Had you paid the debt with the original creditor, Asset Acceptance would not be contacting you. It sounds like you disputed the debt and Asset provided you what was required "by law". Providing you with a list of charges and fees is something that you should have gotten from the original creditor, but when their people were trying to contact you, you probably weren't answering the phone because you don't pay your bills.
Simple fix to this. Stop running, stop complaining, and pay your bills.
