I don't wannna
like this magazine, I really don't. I know it's sexist, and preying upon all the dumb guy stereotypes that us sensitive guys deny but can't shake. And yes, I know it's really soft porn disguised as, well, ...maybe it doesn't disguise itself after all. Anyway, sign me up mom, I want my Maxim.

the truth about maxim
ok, first of all... i'm a red-blooded american heterosexual, and i have no qualms admitting that i like looking at hot girls. and this magazine has plenty of that.
but there's something else to it. maxim manages to perpetuate the male sterotype with an unabashed glee that rivals "The Man Show." the editors of this magazine dont take any of this seriously. you can't hate this magazine, because it doesn't take itself seriously, and if you dont believe me, just look through it some time, it's hilarious! it takes every stereotype of men (sports, beer, video games, and, well... other stuff) and uses it to its advantage, often delighting in it. what sets this apart from other skin mags like playboy is that it does not try to be a serious bastion of high quality entertainment. it is what it is, and nothing more. and what it is is a great magazine!

To The Maxim
Maxim is a great magazine. It's editors know what guys want--pictures of beautiful women, sex, sports, gadget guides, and more. Some of the other features include: Circus Maximus, filled with useless (yet fun) information. How To teaches readers important skills every month, that every man should know, like how to get the most out of a TV remote (AKA clicker). Ask Dr. Maxim gives the guys medical advice. There's even a pop quiz that's lots of fun. Maxim also tackles a serious topic every now and then for good measure.

The magazine's strong suit, in my opinion, is the fact that it doesn't try and change the world. Maxim provides a lighthearted look at the way men see things. It's just good fun. The mag has been chided for a number of reasons, most criticsm though, is unfounded. It is just a magazine after all.

One other note: The Maxim website is great fun too. It's content centers around stuff that pushes things a bit further then the mag does.

Maxim is a recommended guy thing
