Identification:
Back dark blue with light blue stripes, belly silvery white, fins and tail electric blue.
Start of second dorsal behind start of second anal fin. Flat folding pectoral fins.
Two keels at junction of body and caudal fin.
Short lower jaw and a long slender bill.
Temperature range:
21 - 31 Celsius (70 - 88 Fahrenheit).
Typical location:
Along current lines, continental shelf drop off, deep reefs and canyons.
Around bait fish and logs.
Fishing methods:
Trolling mullet or mackerel often in combination with plastic squid.
Trolling live Skipjack, Kawa Kawa and other small Tuna.
Trolling lures, konaheads and plastic squid.
Fighting characteristics:
A very tough fighter with an impressing fast and long first run.
Usually mixes powerful jumps and direction changes with deep fighting characteristics.
