 paid tribute to former United States Senator Malcolm Wallop (R-WY) with a special award honoring his commitment in the Senate to fishing and boating conservation efforts and the creation of the Wallop-Breaux Aquatic Resources Trust Fund.</p><p>The award was presented to the retired Senator on August 9, 2003 in Jackson Hole, WY during the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation’s (CSF) Wyoming Great Outdoors Weekend. In attendance were Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY), Congresswoman Barbara Cubin (R-WY), and Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA). NMMA continues to work with the House Ways & Means Committee to reauthorize Wallop-Breaux this year. In September, NMMA and CSF will host a boat cruise for Committee staff.</p>',350,380))

Federal Government Relations is a key component of the over-all government relations department at NMMA. NMMA members and staff work every day to promote and protect the recreational marine industry on Capitol Hill and within federal agencies.
Due to the diversity of the recreational marine industry, NMMA must keep a constant watch on many committees within Congress and agencies in the Administration.
NMMA utilizes its Boating Online Advocacy Tool (B.O.A.T.) to call upon industry representatives to contact their members of Congress when important issues are being debated and voted upon.
NMMA also recruits members of Congress to join the Congressional Boating Caucus on Capitol Hill. These are members of Congress who support the recreational marine industry and the sport of boating.
