Elections of April 2005

In occasion of the next regional elections of 3 and 4 April 2005 and the provincial and municipal elections foreseen on the same days (with eventual ballots on 17-18 April 2005), the major dispositions will be applied for those who use trains in order to travel to vote:

Reductions

For journeys of voters resident on national territory and for those citizens resident outside the country (for the route from the border entrance station in Italy to the Italian station which serves the Municipality indicated on the electoral document and vice versa), a reduction of 60% of the base tariff is given for both first and second class. For usage of quality trains, a full price service change must be paid.

Ticket validity

Tickets issued for resident voters in Italy have a usage period of twenty days (established for each election). The one way journey cannot therefore be carried out before 26 March 2005 and the return trip not beyond 14 April 2005. Tickets with place booking (Eurostar, Sleeping Cars, and bunks) are valid, within the twenty day usage period, only for the day and train type for which they are booked, and must not be validated.

Tickets issued for voters resident outside Italy may be utilized within two months, provided that the one way trip is carried out before the closure of the election seat, and the return journey must be made before the opening of the electoral seats.

Tickets for trains at market prices are valid only for the day and train indicated on the ticket purchased, respecting the above indicated terms.

To benefit from these reductions reserved for voters, it is necessary to have:

the electoral card (or notice card only for foreign residents) or, for resident voters in Italy, a self-certification (the latter only for one way trips proceding to voting booth)
a personal identification document
for the return trip, the marking on the electoral card by the electoral seat.
a ticket that is valid for the journey and validated, if needed.

The lack of one of these requisites will give rise to corrections provided for by the current by-laws.
