| What is Family Filter?
Family Filter is a feature you can use to reduce objectionable content from your search results. How Does Family Filter Work? Family Filter uses three methods to reduce the amount of objectionable content in your search results:
Family Filter Settings
Password Protection You may protect your Family Filter settings by entering a password on the Family Filter setup page. Be sure to remember your password since you'll need it to make any changes to your Family Filter preferences. Why do I have to reset Family Filter each time I visit AltaVista? Some features of AltaVista, including Family Filter, use cookie technology to save a user's settings so that they don't have to be re-entered at every visit. If your browser is set up to reject cookies, you must reset the Family Filter and other settings each time you visit AltaVista. To protect your children, you can turn cookies on or you can use your browser's ability to filter Web sites instead of the AltaVista Family Filter.
