From the laboratories to the lakes, evaluation gardens to native habitat areas, the Garden is a center for research of many kinds. The Garden’s science program has multiple goals:

• To conserve the rarest plants of the Midwest and beyond
• To develop, evaluate and introduce the best plants for
   Midwest gardens
• To preserve and display native plant communities
• To explore aspects of plants related to human culture
