See what others have to say about their stay at Yosemite Pines.

Unfortunately, the summer months are usually booked at Yosemite National Park. If you are driving from the Bay Area or Sacramento, I would recommend Yosemite Pines RV Park and Campground in Groveland. The website is www.yosemitepinesrv.com. There are new owners and managers of Yosemite Pines and they have put a lot of money into the park and campgrounds, bought a number of new cabins, tents, etc. and renovated the clubhouse and store. Bathrooms are clean and the place now looks great. Lots of great amenities including pool, petting zoo, gold mine tour, clubhouse, etc. In addition, the campground has hookups. If you want to stay in a little more luxury than an rv or tent, they have cabins for rent as well. If you are coming from the south entrance try High Sierra RV Park & Campground in Oakhurst. Their website is www.highsierrarv.com. High Sierra is located in the heart of Oakhurst and is walking distance to shops and restaurants and close to the Peddlers Fair. It has a great location for camping and is a quaint little rv park and campground situated on the banks of the Fresno River.

Yosemite Valley lures travelers with the mystique of its rustic gold rush towns, the awe of Yosemite National Park's sprawling landscape and tumbling waterfalls, and the sport of its winding rivers and trails. RVers hoping to dabble in the Valley's attractions will find themselves centrally located at Yosemite Pines RV Park. Shuttle and taxi services provide transport to the park and historic gold mining towns or to attractions such as Lake Don Pedro, where jet skis, fishing or ski boats can be rented. The RV park features hayrides, ice cream socials for the young and young-at-heart, and storytelling by campfire. Source: Best Places to See by RV by Valerie Conners.

There are a few private RV parks near Yosemite National Park's portals. The Yosemite Pines RV Park is located about 45 miles west of the Big Oak Flat Entrance, near Groveland, Calif. It is a full-service RV park with 198 sites and many great amenities. Also, the Indian Flat RV Park (50 sites) is just west of Big Oak Flat in El Portal, California. About 20 miles south of Yosemite National Park, on California Highway 41, north of Oakhurst, the High Sierra RV and Mobile Park has 102 sites. It offers full hookups, showers and restaurants nearby. East of Yosemite National Park and about a mile north of California Highway 120 (on U.S. 395), Mono Vista RV Park has a small 32-site, full service campground. Besides the private RV parks, the national forests around Yosemite National Park have a number of nice campgrounds. Due to Yosemite National Park's popularity and its convoluted batch of rules and restrictions, a camping trip to Yosemite National Park requires some advance planning. There are first-come, first-served campgrounds, but most of the better ones require reservations. It is best to be well informed and have up to date camping information before leaving home. Some campgrounds do not allow pets, some have seven-day maximum stay limits, some are walk-in only and so forth. There are no hookups in Yosemite National Park. Dump stations are available in Yosemite Valley, Wawona and Tuolumne Meadows campgrounds. Showers and other facilities are available in the Valley and at Tuolumne Meadows. Camping at Yosemite Pines RV Park and Campground turned out to be a fun weekend. Most of the Yosemite campgrounds are booked full months in advance for the busy summer months at Yosemite National Park. The RV park and campground has a nice woodsy feel and is one of the few private Yosemite campgrounds to offer hookups, decent amenities, shady campsites, and clean bathrooms which is important as the Yosemite campsites and RV parks at Yosemite National Park do not offer hookups. Yosemite RV Park and Campground is probably the nicest of all Yosemite RV Parks.

I saw this park listed as one of the eighth best RV parks to see in the country by Travel Explorer. I had read some of the older reviews and was a little suspicious. Since my wife and kids were coming from San Jose to Yosemite for the weekend we decided to check it out. By far the nicest park and best location to Yosemite from Route 120. The new owners have completely renovated the park and they have a great amenity package. It's one of the newer parks and they have a petting zoo, huge pool for the kids, cabins. Next time up we will probably stay in a cabin and they are pretty neat. I would definitely recommend this place and will come next year.

We had a great time. Was here a few years ago and the place NOW looks great. Always like the location. Now the park is looks great as well. May be new managers - something changed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We stayed here several years ago and am surprised how nice the park has turned out. The owners have apparently put in a lot of money and hired new on-site management. The park offers a nice, woodsy feel with many shaded sites. It's about a 30 minute drive to the north entrance to Yosemite. If you are coming from the Bay Area this is the place to stay if you need hookups as Yosemite National Park does not offer hookups.

I stayed both of the same owner's park's in the Yosemite area. South of Yosemite at a park called High Sierra in Oakhurst on my way up from LA and Yosemite Pines on my way out of the park going west to he Bay area. Both parks were clean and the staff friendly and helpful to someone new to this RVing thing - fun!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the entrance of Yosemite National Park, the location couldn't be better. Nature surrounds you. I felt the exhilaration John Muir must have felt as he discovered Yosemite.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The park and lodge have undergone a major improvement since the new owners purchased about a year ago. I have stayed at a number of parks in the area and this is by far the best located and managed parks. I brought my two young children and they loved the petting zoo and hayrides. This park is the place to stay if you are from the bay area or northwest.

First off we were not in an RV so we stayed at a cabin. The cabin was brand new, clean and was fully equipped. Cupboards were full of plates, utensils, pots/pans etc, a nice surprise. The previous owners apparently had let the place run down. The new owners have put a lot of money in renovating and adding to the park. The Smiths (park managers) are very nice and accommodating people. They went out of their way to make our stay there enjoyable. We had previously stayed in a tent at pines campground (Stanislaus national forest campground) past 3 days and were soaked. This was dec 25th-27 of 2004 when the storms came. We were forced to change our plans of tenting it and had to retreat to a cabin. When they heard we had some wet equipment the smiths generously let us use an out of the way heated room to hang and dry our stuff. That saved us from having smelly mildewed equipment.

The park is going through some growing pains due to change of ownership but it is in the name of increasing facilities. They are getting the improvements done during the slow winter months to impact the guests minimally. Propane is still from a tank outside the cabin. The gas company has been digging around to install gas pipes so a bit of mud off to the side.

The friendly park staff and management more than made up for that bit of mud. Everything seems brand new from the cabins, the store, even the deck and railings. We enjoyed our stay and will return when we are in the area. We recommend the park highly.

We put together a last minute trip to Yosemite pines. After viewing reviews already on here I was a bit nervous when arriving. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the wonderful staff! Then we were shown to our 5 cabin deluxe. I was so surprised at what I saw. I was so pleased with the accommodations. These cabins were just so clean, and very spacious. I couldn't have asked for a better deal for what we paid. Usually its what you pay is what you get. Well I have news for you this was absolutely worth more than we paid! A full kitchen with a private shower, bathroom. Plenty of space for the children and not to mention the great firepit for our smores. We were very pleased with our trip and we will be visiting again in a few weeks. We asked to see what their cabin that sleeps 8 looked like and it was as close as it gets to a house. These cabins are a new and clean. The game room was very nice for the children. A big screen TV for dad and a couch for mom to relax in! There is also a new playground and horseshoe section. I highly recommend this RV park to anyone. All the camp sites are very nice here. The gold mine tour was awesome. It was worth the little money we spent and we got MORE than we thought we would have! The rates are superb! We paid 70$ for this cabin. The large 8 sleeper is only 109 a night during the winter. The summer rates aren't much higher and well worth the money! Their is Don Pedro lake near by and Lake mountain pines. SO there is PLENTY to do! Lots of wonderful scenery and of course great fresh air!
