The Tuvalu Message Forum

Talofa!

The following contemporary images of Tuvalu have managed to capture many beautiful and modern images that represent Tuvalu in a way that it has never been represented internationally before. These pictures portray and capture the essential essence of this most unique of Polynesian nations in a series of fascinating portraits. This will be the first in a series of Web sites devoted to contemporary images of Tuvalu.

Please enjoy Tuvalu 2000 -- contemporary images of our beloved Tuvalu.

TUVALU 2002

CONTEMPORARY IMAGES OF FUNAFUTI, TUVALU

Since the following pictures (below) were taken in 2000, there had been a number of changes in the Tuvalu landscape in less than two years!

The people of Tuvalu (Funafuti) now have paved roads, speed humps and street signs. The capital of Tuvalu, Funafuti, is now lit with street lights from one end to the other. Robert Girdo and his wife Kerrie returned from Tuvalu on 24th May 2002 and they have kindly made available many excellent updated images on their great Tuvalu 2002 Web site  www.girdo.com/tuvalu taken in May 2002.

My Wish
by Jane Resture
The frigate bird
The flying fish
It is time for us
To make a wish

And I wish for the sunrise
To be beautiful each time
With days that are perfect
And nights so sublime

And I wish for the sunset
To be like a long red sail
Each and every day
And you and I will always stay
Whatever we wish
Will surely come true
And I wish for happiness
For me and you

And I wish for the world
To live in peace
To live and love as one
To a simple beat

And I wish for us all
To have our lives full of love
Full of joy and happiness
And eternal love
