Google Ranked 3 Sites

For your site to get a ranking of 3 you will not have to put in too much ground work. Don't worry on day one with links and things like that. Develop a quality website. That is it and that is how to get hits and traffic. Once you have a quality website other webmasters will have pleasure in linking to you. You shouldn't have to go out begging for links, and sometimes this can have a reverse effect on your search engine placement.

Before you add your site to any search engines (this does not cost any money either) make sure your site will be readable by their robots and spiders.

If you have developed your website in lash, then don't bother going any further. It may look lovely, but that is where things may stop!

Back links are important, but get the development of your site correct first!

Case Study - www.justessex.co.uk (current Google ranking of 6 27/01/05)

Just Essex is a website directory for Essex. It has hundreds of sites linked from it, and many hundreds linking back. So what does this mean? Below we have shown some of the traffic, refers and keywords. You can use this to compare against your own data. If you don't collect this information then how do you know how your site is doing? You don't. Ranking from Google does not show how many visitors you get, and may not even go hand in hand with the results. Don't get carried away working for ranking placement. Work on content instead!

Linking your website from a site with a higher page rank can be a great help for your own website's page ranking.
