The Truth about Work at Home
A Home Business Article Contributed by Cecil T. Westervelt
Where Do I Find Work at Home Opportunities?
Nearly everyone has seen the adds, received the e-mail or taken it upon themselves to research work at home opportunities. Newspapers, the internet and even signs hung on telephone poles are good places to get started.
Are Work at Home Job Legit?
The horrible fact of the matter is that the vast majority of them simply are not legal, or are designed to make money for everyone but you.
One of the fastest ways to separate the scams from the real work at home jobs is that the real ones pretty much never ask for fees up front. It is supposed to be an at home job. Employers tend to pay for the services of people doing a job, scam artist ask that potential 'employees' pay them.
If a work at home agency or online employer ask for money up they are probably scam artist. Fees for background checks, drugs test or similar tend to be alright so long as they don't exceed twenty or thirty dollars. Ongoing 'membership' fees are the biggest sign of a scam. Imagine if a regular employer forced you to pay $50 up front and then $29.99 monthly to work for them.
Are Work at Home Jobs Hard?
Generally yes. They are after all jobs, the only real difference from a traditional employer is that you do most of your at home, instead of in an office. Typically work at home jobs can actually prove to be more difficult than regular jobs because you are at home. Working at home, without a boss to keep you in line is sometimes difficult.
Self motivation, a willingness to work hard even when no one is looking and realistic expectations about how much work you have to do are critical to success. This is another sign of whether or not an opportunity is legit or not. If someone tries to convince you that there isn't any real work involved, you have to ask yourself why they would be paying you.
Do Work at Home Jobs Pay Well?
Some pay better than others, most pay you in accordance with how hard you work. Keep in mind that you won't make 10 million dollars a year from any real offering. If it were that simply, or that easy, they wouldn't be telling anyone else about it.
Too good to be true, usually isn't true. Buyer beware, by my count there are about five scams for every legit program.
Conclusion
If you are hard working, and self motivated there is the chance for you to make a fair amount of money with work at home jobs, online jobs and other forms of non traditional employment. There is no chance of getting rich in ten days, or owning a hundred houses in six months. They key things to watch out for are: up front fees, too good to be true promises, and work free jobs. It's also good to keep in mind that real employers never mind telling you EXACTLY what you will be doing to earn your money.
