Fore earns All-PBC honors as Lander runners finish 4th

2004Tiffany_Fore.jpg (3502 bytes)GREENWOOD----Led by Tiffany Fore's all-conference performance, the Lander women's cross country team placed fourth of 10 teams Saturday in the Peach Belt Conference Championship host by Lander at the Connie Maxwell Children's Home.

Fore (pictured) ran a personal best 19 minutes, 13 seconds on the 3.1-mile course and placed 13th overall of 64 runners. Ivana Petrovic finished 16th in 19:27, Margie Smith 29th in 20:52; Jennifer Hukill 35th 21:07, Margaret Mobley 53rd in 23:00, Lauren Campbell 56th in 23:13, and Camden Jones 60th in 24:05.

Kennesaw State won with a low 26 points, followed by North Florida 42, Clayton State 99, Lander 146, Columbus State 148, Francis Marion 174, UNC Pembroke 204, USC Aiken 206, Georgia College 211, and Augusta State 229.

Lander runners are 18th of 27 at Furman Invitational

2004Tiffany_Fore.jpg (3502 bytes)GREENVILLE----The Lander women's cross country team placed 18th of 27 teams Saturday at the 32nd annual Furman Invitational. The meet had 12 NCAA Division I teams in the field.

Tiffany Fore (pictured) led the way for the Bearcats, placing 49th of 233 runners. Fore clocked 20 minutes 01 second for the 3.1-mile course. Ivana Petrovic was 65th in 20:20 and Margie Smith was 137th in 21:54. Margaret Mobley and Kate Dyerle rounded out Lander's top five.

Appalachian State won the meet with a low 75 points, followed by Davidson 75, Furman 92, Emory 106, North Florida 145, Clemson 146, College of Charleston 173, Mars Hill 292, Clayton State 318, Cumberland 321, Western Carolina 327, Winthrop 342, Elon 366, Brevard 432, Georgia Southern 443, Gardner-Webb 472, The Citadel 480, Lander 499, Anderson 535, Warren Wilson 564, Wofford 565, UNC Club 593, Southern Wesleyan 639, King 678, Coker 775, Newberry 818 and South Carolina State 848.

Lander finishes third of 11 at Winthrop cross country

2004Margie_Smith.jpg (3314 bytes)ROCK HILL----Tiffany Fore and Ivana Petrovic placed second and fourth individually Saturday as the Lander women's cross country team placed third of 12 teams at the Asics/Winthrop Invitational.

Fore finished the 3.1-mile course in a season-best 19 minutes, 50 seconds, with Petrovic close behind in 20:04. There were 97 runners in the race. Other Lander finishers were: Margie Smith (pictured) 21st in 21:44, Jennifer Hukill 23rd in 21:49 and Margaret Mobley 37th in 22:35.

Shawnee (Ohio) State University won with a low 42 points, followed by Lees-McRae 67, Lander 87, Anderson 99, North Greenville 146, Presbyterian 167, Spartanburg Methodist 186, Erskine 186, Voorhees 296, Morris 332, Belmont Abbey 351 and Newberry 406.

Lander runners place eighth at Wingate Invitational

2003Ivana_Petrovic1.jpg (15432 bytes)WINGATE, NC----Tiffany Fore and Ivana Petrovic (pictured) placed seventh and 12th individually Saturday as the Lander women's cross country team placed eighth of 21 teams at the Wingate Invitational.

Fore finished the muddy, 6K course (3.6 miles) in 24 minutes 19 seconds with Petrovic close behind in 24:46. There were 135 runners in the race. Other Lander runners were Margie Smith (44th), Margaret Mobley (76th), Kate Deyerle (102nd) and Camden Jones (107th).

Wingate won the meet with a low 85 points, followed by Clayton State (115), Queens (129), Anderson (181), Tusculum (198), Carson-Newman (212), Francis Marion (221), Lander (236), UNC Pembroke (258), North Greenville (278), Presbyterian (292), Pfeiffer (295), St. Andrews (304), Erskine (327), Converse (330), Catawba (343), Belmont Abbey (415), North Carolina Central (419), Coker (450), Claflin (516), and Livingstone (540).

Fore win paces Bearcats to second in cross country

2003Tiffany_Fore2.jpg (14442 bytes)GREENWOOD----Tiffany Fore earned her second career individual title Saturday to lead the Lander women's cross country team to a second-place finish in the Lander/Connie Maxwell Invitational. (Full results)

Fore finished the 3.1-mile race in 20:05, while teammate Ivana Petrovic was third in 20:33. There were 82 runners in the race. Other Lander finishers were Margie Smith (17th), Camden Jones (29th), Margaret Mobley (36th), Lauren Campbell (54th) and Kate Deyerle (59).

Anderson College won with a low 77 points, and was followed by Lander (86), North Greenville (103), Southern Wesleyan (107), Presbyterian (123), Spartanburg Methodist (136), USC Aiken (166), Erskine (176), Augusta State (182), Toccoa Falls (279) and Newberry (296).

Anderson's Ethan Schaffner won the overall title, covering the 8-kilometer course in  27:57.

Spartanburg Methodist won the men's title by placing all five runners in the top 11 spots. SMC had a low 32 points, followed by Presbyterian (59), Anderson (69), North Greenville (95), Southern Wesleyan (116), Erskine (167) and Toccoa Falls (203).

Cross Country finishes 7th of 22 teams in Eye Opener

SPARTANBURG---The Lander women's cross country team finished seventh of 20 teams Saturday in the Eye Opener Invitational at the Milliken Plant.

Senior Tiffany Fore (pictured) led the Lander attack, finishing ninth of 170 runners. Fore clocked the 3.1-mile course in 20 minutes and 29 seconds. Senior Ivana Petrovic finished 15th in 20:50 and was followed by teammates Margie Smith (58th), Margaret Mobley (87th), Camden Jones (90th). Lauren Campbell and Kate Deyerle rounded out the Lander finishers in 108th and 122nd places.

Mars Hill won the meet with a low 41 points, followed by Wingate (118), Savannah College for Arts and Design (134), Queens (149), Tusculum (212), Anderson (221), Lander (229), Presbyterian (251), North Greenville (255), Southern Wesleyan (266), USC Aiken (269), Pfeiffer (282), Columbus State (288), Spartanburg Methodist (302), Converse (378), Augusta State (388), Erskine (404), Belmont Abbey (472), Spartanburg Methodist "B" team (579) and Toccoa Falls (580).
