Live Your Dreams with a Home Based Business

After coming to the realization that life is too short not to do what you love, I started my own home based business in 1999. Since that time, I have had the pleasure of performing writing, editing, proofreading, and research through my own publishing company. I do a lot of freelance work for various clients, but the constant love for me is to write and hopefully have my words make a difference. This was my dream and you can fulfill yours as well with your own home based business that is geared toward what you would love to do in life.

Let me start with the truth: is it a scary proposition to start your own home based business? You bet it is. However, you have to ask yourself this question: do you want to continue to make a living in the job that you are in right now or is there something that you have always wanted to do or have dreamed of doing for a living? I was caught in a job where I was totally miserable and I felt as if a piece of my soul was dying every day I had to get up and go into work.

I finally came to the decision that I did not want to spend forty years in a job that I hated. I made a decision to step out and take a chance.

How I Pursued My Home Based Business

Now I am not saying that the path I followed is the only way to follow your dreams and to establish your own home based business. However, hopefully by reading about my experience, you will be inspired and encouraged to follow your heart and attempt something you have not dared to up to this point. The first thing I did when I decided to start my own home based business was to make sure I had enough savings in the bank to try a new path.

I then went back to school and acquired the skills that I knew I would need in order to offer editing services thru my own home based business. I worked an internship with a publishing company and made as many contacts as I could with managing editors. I then registered my home based business and set up a website to let the world know I was in business and what services I offered. I also had business cards printed and sent them out to every book and magazine publisher that I could find.

I bought all the software I would need for my home based business. I used the contacts I had made to start acquiring a few projects which in turn led to making more contacts. One of my contacts pointed me in the direction of a book publisher that was looking for a researcher and author. That relationship has led to three books written by myself that have now been published.

A Home Based Business Can Be a Reality: Give it a Try

My home based business is thriving. I perform freelance projects that pay the bills and which provides funds for me to pursue writing history which has always been a dream for me. In short, I believe that if you love something enough, you can make it work. My hope is that thru reading about my story, others will be encouraged and inspired to step out on that "limb" and attempt something that you have always wanted to do by starting your own home based business.
