Different Readings
A contemporary interpretation of the Allport Furniture Collection |
Different Readings, is a
groundbreaking new exhibition which showcases reinterpretations of
heritage pieces from the Allport Furniture Collection by Tasmania’s finest
contemporary furniture designers. Fourteen furniture designers were
invited by the State Library of Tasmania to seek inspiration for the
creation of new work from the superb examples of antique furniture in the
Allport collection. The resulting contemporary creations are displayed in
stark contrast alongside their genteel sources of inspiration in the
heritage furniture bays of the Allport Museum.
