ALG for Australian publishers & booksellers

The Australian Libraries Gateway (ALG) is a free World Wide Web-based directory service hosted by the National Library of Australia. The site improves access to information about Australia's libraries, their collections and services. The Gateway provides access to a wide range of reference information for libraries and library users but it can also assist publishers and booksellers to promote themselves and their services.

For example, ALG includes a 'Directory of Australian publishers & booksellers' for Australian publishers and booksellers with a web site and/or email address - contact ALG Administration if you are not already included in this Directory.

ALG can also help publishers and booksellers to:

Find the contact details of Australian libraries - find libraries by name, location, library type as well as subject collecting level. While ALG does not provide mailing lists, the Gateway is the most up-to-date source of information about libraries as the libraries maintain the information themselves. You may decide to create your own mailing lists from the address information supplied via ALG.
Access individual Australian library catalogues remotely to search their collections or check holdings as well as online image collections for picture research.
Find out about 'Australian union catalogues' and the Directory of Z39.50 Targets in Australia which reveal information about the collections of more than one library.
Access library policy documents (for example, collection development policies and strategic plans) through individual library entries on the Gateway .
Get listed as an 'Australian bibliographic and subscription service'.
Connect to directories of libraries outside Australia.
Find a list of bookclubs and reading groups
Find out the latest news from the Australian library sector, including information about upcoming conferences and library-related discussion lists.
