To Do While Visiting ... St.
Petersburg, Florida offers miles of picturesque blue waters
and beaches along Florida's west coast, a renovated downtown
with a modern waterfront and a relaxing Spanish heritage reflected
in its historic architecture. You have to visit The Pier, an
inverted pyramid of shops and restaurants in Tampa Bay. For

of cultural tourism. Visitors can tour the Quarter; several
square blocks of museums, art galleries, studios and eateries.
Transportation to many of the attractions is 50 cents on The
Looper, a trolley that stops at ten downtown spots.

nice restaurant. The area has a full array of familiar chains
and fast food emporiums if you’re traveling on a shoestring

time to visit ? While most folks visit the St Petersburg area
during the spring and summer, year-round the weather is typically
mild and there is a lot to see and do. If the beach is calling,
April, May, October, and November are good shoulder season
visit times; you’ll miss the maximum summer crowds, skip
the rainy season, and still have enough sunshine to grab a
great tan.

car is essential for getting around the area. Public transport
is planned to meet tourist's needs but it isn’t a reality
yet. If you fly into the area you’ll probably arrive at
Tampa International Airport as the St. Petersburg/Clearwater
International Airport has somewhat limited service. Most major
airlines fly into Tampa International. Alamo, Avis, Budget,
Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Thrifty, and Value car
rental airports all have outlets at Tampa International Airport.
If you plan to travel around the area, a rental car is probably
a necessity. The best rates for car rentals are available on
a weekly basis. Renting a car for just 3-4 days can often cost
you as much as a full week's rental. Rental rates vary significantly
from one company to another, as do the discounts available.
