From its beginnings in the 1850s as the library of the
Meteorological Department of the Board of Trade, the
National Meteorological Library and Archive has become one
of the most comprehensive collections of literature on meteorology
anywhere in the world.
As the national collection on all aspects of the weather
and climate, we are the custodians of the 'public memory
of the weather' and a major resource for scientific research.
Both the Library and Archive are open to any member
of the public with an interest in weather and climate.
Archive records for Scotland are held in Edinburgh, and
for Northern Ireland in Belfast.

our unique collections of photographs and slides...
Monthly
Accessions List
