Challenge: Amoco, the primary sponsor in the NASCAR Winton Cup Series of the Bill Davis #93 Team driven by Dave Blaney, needed a turn-key Web site solution and needed it fast. The site required daily maintenance and also had to effectively represent Amoco’s commitment to the sport while providing Amoco employees and Dave Blaney fans a destination for racing updates, marketing promotions, and Team merchandise.
Approach: RMG3 quickly provided a site to Amoco that reflected the investment they had in the sport and that the Amoco Corporation and Bill Davis Racing could be proud of. Not only was the site updated with Amoco team articles and results but it also utilized a feed from RMG3's RacingOne.com that augmented daily features with the latest NASCAR news from leading motorsports journalists. An online store was also created for exclusive Team gear and racing merchandise.
Results: The site was unique with a fresh look and feel and was full of information that fans and employees loved. Based on user feedback, merchandise sales, and high traffic the site became a prize destination for all concerned parties. Unfortunately, when BP purchased Amoco the decision from corporate was to discontinue the NASCAR sponsorship.
