Challenge: In 2001, CNNSI.com, a sister company of the AOL Time Warner-owned WUSA, launched WUSA.com. Without a staff of soccer journalists, CNNSI was in need of a content solution to insure that the league site included fresh daily news.
Approach: RMG3 approached this challenge by utilizing its in house Content Management Team, including of some of the most respected soccer journalists in the US, to create a season-long content schedule. The schedule included articles planned by the week to publish on a frequency schedule, and was flexible enough to accommodate late-breaking league news. RMG3’s editors then mobilized the company’s national network of freelance writers to produce articles throughout the season. RMG3 focused on both “off the field” profile type pieces, and hard news. RMG3 editors, in addition to assigning articles, provided quality assurance through their editing expertise, and insured that all articles were published in a timely fashion.
Result: CNNSI.com had a completely Turnkey, cost-effective content solution for a new US professional sports league with no worries about the quantity or quality of content produced. RMG3 covered all of the leagues eight teams through the league’s inaugural championship. The league’s new fans from around the globe received the most comprehensive coverage available.
