New Passport Initiative Announced To Better Secure America's Borders
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative will require all U.S. citizens, Canadians, citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, and citizens of Mexico to have a passport or other accepted secure document to enter or re-enter the U.S. by January 1, 2008.  [more]

Avian Influenza in Asia
The U.S. Government is concerned about the ongoing avian influenza, or bird flu, outbreak in Asia and its potential for becoming a human flu pandemic. From January 2004 until now, outbreaks of bird flu have been confirmed among poultry in Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, South Korea, and Thailand. [more]

Refugee Admissions Programs
Since 1975, millions of refugees have been resettled in the United States, either from first asylum countries or through in-country processing programs. The U.S. Department of State Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration recently released Refugee Admissions Program fact sheets for: Africa, East Asia, Europe and Central Asia, Latin American and the Caribbean, and the Near East and South Asia.
