SalesCart was originally created way back in 1995, but after much customer demand, the product was released as the first of its kind in 1997.  The original product was in IDC/HTX database technology because ASP (Active Server Page) technology did not yet exist.

What ComCity learned from its hosting customers is that many small to medium sized companies were eager to enable their Web sites for electronic commerce and supplement the income of their new and existing businesses.   These customers discovered two things that were truly required to sell products on the Internet:  1) Either you need a lot of money to purchase a complex electronic commerce solution, or 2) you need a team of programmers to build a complex electronic commerce solution. 

That's why ComCity developed SalesCart...

Although we could have easily designed SalesCart to work only with ComCity hosting solutions or as only a Shopping Cart service, what makes SalesCart so special is that it will work with any certified hosting company that supports standard database technology using either (ASP) Active Server Page or PHP application server hosting.  Our experience shows that this covers 99% of all web hosting companies.  In fact, SalesCart is so ISP friendly that you could host your SalesCart site without your ISP ever knowing.  Many of our customers do just that.  

However, some presence providers may have already invested in building or supporting lesser shopping cart systems or more complex expensive ones and they may be reluctant to change to SalesCart.  If your presence provider "does not" support SalesCart, then check out of preferred list of ISP/WPP partners that do.
