Chronic Constipation Research Study

Symptoms Abdominal discomfort or pain for at least 3 months out of the last year and 2 out of 3 of the following:
  • Change in frequency of bowel movement(Less often)
  • Change in form (appearance) of bowel movement
  • Straining
  • Incomplete evacuation
  • Bloating or feeling abdominal distension
  • 3 or less bowel movements per week
  • Relieved with bowel movement and/or

Purpose The purpose of this research study is to determine the efficacy of an investigational medication on constipation predominant IBS.
Requirements
  • Men and women must be at least 18 years old
  • Have a history of constipation predominant IBS (diagnosed by a physician) for at least six months
  • 5 visits to UNC over 6 months
  • Must be a resident of North Carolina
Compensation $50 per visit to UNC, up to $250 total
