Holiday Travel Tips
As the busy holiday travel season begins, Northwest Airlines would like to make your next trip as easy as possible. Please keep the following information in mind when preparing to fly in the upcoming months:
-
Allow extra time at the airport. Domestic travelers should arrive 75 minutes prior to departure and international travelers should arrive two (2) hours in advance.
-
Bring photo identification with you. All passengers age 18 and older must carry government-issued photo identification and will be asked to show identification during check-in and at security checkpoints.
-
The free luggage allowance policy is two pieces of checked luggage per passenger, each not exceeding 62 linear inches (length plus width plus height) and one carry-on that fits in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.
-
Travel light. For travel within the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, checked luggage weighing 50 to 70 pounds will be assessed a fee of $25 USD/$39 CAD and luggage weighing 70 to 100 pounds will be assessed a fee of $50 USD/$77 CAD. Luggage weighing over 100 pounds will not be accepted as checked luggage.
-
Avoid wrapping your gifts prior to travel. Wrapped packages must be opened for inspection by airport security.
-
E-Ticket customers can save time by using one of our self-service check-in options:
nwa.com check-in is available online up to 24 hours but not later than 60 minutes prior to flight departure.
Self-service check-in kiosks are located at 188 airports throughout North America.
