Pages currently in the make as of 27 August 2004

The House Edge:

The House Edge gives the ratios of the casino's advantage for each bet. Of course the house advantage is an average value compiled by software programs playing the game millions of times. In simple words if you bet 100 times on for example blackjack (blackjack has a 'house' edge of just 0.5% for an advanced player, playing according the books)  with each bet a wager of $10 your 'loss' in average is (100*10$)*0.5%= 5$.

Of course during these 100 bets you need to play a very advanced level, moreover these 100 bets are not a statistical average, you easily can end up winning 1000$ or losing even more!

Blackjack

There are many strategies available on the net, some are specific for Las Vegas casino's who have different rules than Atlantic City. The best bet is to buy the book on the right, and keep it as trophy for your visits to Vegas. The book has clear sheets where basic strategies of single and multiple decks are given. With a correct way to play your hand against every dealer's up card.

Where does this basic strategy bring you?

The basic house edge of blackjack is about 6.0%, now by learning the basic strategies you can bring it back to 0.5%.

Out of experience, its not that hard to play with an average disadvantage of around 1%, with spending just 1 hour learning the basic strategy, You need some more time and dedication going to the 0.5-0.2%.

Basic house edge 6 %
Correct hitting & standing -3%
Correct doubling -1.5%
Correct pair splitting -0.5%
House edge with basic strategy 0.5-0.2% (depends on single versus double deck & extra casino rules)
