Lander men's tennis falls in first round of PBC tourney

SPARTANBURG-----USC Aiken used a tough 9-7 victory at No. 3 doubles to spark the singles play as the 9th-seeded Pacers claimed a 5-3 victory over 8th-seeded Lander in the first round of the 2005 Peach Belt Conference Men's Championships Thursday afternoon.

Carlos Huerta and Fernando Guevara gutted out a 9-7 victory over Lander's (3-11) Andre Ivarsson and Akshay Challappa at No. 3 doubles to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.  In singles play, USC Aiken (13-10) won its matches at the Nos. 2-4 spots to claim the team win.
