1. What information does Aptimus collect? How is it used?

When you visit an Aptimus sponsored offer page for the first time, our servers will attempt to put a cookie on your hard drive. Depending on your browser's security settings, you may not be informed of this. Our cookies remember your order information, and enable us to automatically fill in certain order fields (e.g. first and last name, e-mail address, postal address). You may decide to refuse the cookie, but it will make your shopping experience less convenient.

Our web servers do not automatically recognize the domain or e-mail address of each visitor. We use your IP (Internet protocol) address to understand general information on site traffic trends (e.g. average number and length of page views, number of single page views, etc.) from standard server logs. This information is collected and reported in aggregate and is not specific to individual users.

When you order a promotional offer through us, we will always ask for your first and last name, e-mail address, and postal address. We use this information to keep a record of your order, confirm your order via e-mail, and contact you in case of a problem in order processing.

In some cases, offers will require more than this basic information. Specifically, they may require your phone number, gender, date of birth or answers to survey questions. Unless otherwise specified on the order page, all of the requested information is required to process an order.

It is very important that you enter your e-mail address correctly, as this may affect our ability to complete your order.

For your security, we do not place your credit card information on your cookie. You will be asked to re-enter payment information every time you order.

2. How do the companies that advertise with Aptimus use order information?

Generally, only the information required to fulfill an order is shared with the advertiser. We do not disclose any information that is not essential to this purpose. For instance, we may not provide your email address to a advertiser who is providing a non-Internet based service.

If you have reason to believe that this policy was compromised, please contact us at privacy@aptimus.com.

3. What are "link-out" offers?

Some offers may require you to leave an Aptimus offer page or newsletter to place an order. These are called "link-out" offers because when you click on them, you are taken to another company's website - usually a website hosted by an advertiser or an advertiser's service provider. Please be aware that you will be subject to the policies of the company that maintains that site as soon as you enter it.

4. What security measures does Aptimus have in place to protect personal information?

All of the order pages on the Aptimus Network have security measures to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. All orders placed on Aptimus use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption.

All credit card data is immediately deleted from live data tables, and is not maintained in any form of shopping cart or basket. Internally, this data is protected and is accessible only by passwords and secure databases. Web security is monitored on a constant basis, and adheres to strict regulations.

5. What is the Aptimus policy on list rental?

Visitors who order products or request information are added to our active database. As such, any data that you enter, including without limitation, your e-mail address, postal address, demographic information and answers to survey questions may be provided to third-party vendors in order to present you with offers that may be of interest to you and/or for general demographic purposes. Use of your information by such vendors will be subject to the terms of their internal privacy policies. If you do not wish to participate in this program, you may opt-out by sending an email to remove@aptimus.com. Please note that your act of ordering an offer through the Aptimus Network is your affirmation and agreement to receive commercial email solicitations in conformance with the provisions of this privacy policy and our Terms of Service.

If you elect to be removed from our list rental program, Aptimus will not use your information, nor will Aptimus sell, rent or distribute your information to a third party vendor from the date we process your request.

6. Do Aptimus newsletters require personal information?

Your e-mail address, and some demographic information are required in order to receive newsletters of special interest. Additional information, specific to a particular offer, may be required to order offers from within a newsletter.

Visitors may opt-in to receive e-mail newsletters containing information about offers, contests, and other special interest information. From time to time we will present you with opportunities to subscribe to our email marketing program, by signing up to receive Aptimus special offers and newsletters.

If you are currently enrolled in this program, and would like to be removed, please send a blank email to remove@aptimus.com, or follow the removal instructions on the bottom of the newsletters you receive from us.

7. What personal information is required for participation in Surveys and Contests? How is that information used?

In our online surveys and contests, we may ask respondents to provide contact information (e.g. an email address, and telephone number), and demographic information (e.g. zip code, age, and/or income level). This information is used to contact the respondents to invite further participation in specific offers, and/or to notify them of prize winnings.

8. Where else can I go to learn about my rights as a consumer?

Aptimus recommends you visit the following sites to learn more about consumer rights and responsibilities on the Internet:
